Tire care doesn't always involve rotations and wheel alignments. Simple steps performed by the owner could help preserve the tires' condition. Making sure the tires have the right amount of air pressure may preserve them, as low air pressure could wear down the rubber. Excessive air pressure may lead to a blowout, which is dangerous.

An inexpensive tire pressure gauge reveals the psi levels in tires. The tires' manufacturer will list the appropriate psi level. If it says, "33 psi," then that is the target. Anything higher or lower presents a problem. Thankfully, adding or releasing air isn't much trouble.

No matter how well you take care of the tires, the treads eventually wear out. Measure tread depth with a copper penny or use an actual tool. When the treads get too low, driving around Glenwood Springs may become risky.
